Tips for Applying Labels

Bottle Shape

Choose a smooth bottle with a body that’s the same width from top to bottom, and has tall shoulders. avoid any wine and champagne bottles that are different shapes or odd textures. the straight part of the body should be taller than your custom labels. if the body is too short, you might find the labels will bubble at the top or bottom once applied.

Removing Old Wine Label

There are a couple ways to do this. If you are ok with removing both labels on the current wine bottle (front and back) soak the wine bottle in a pot of cold water and a 1/4 cup of baking soda. Let sit for 30 minutes, and once the existing labels have started to dissolve, SCRAPE off any remaining label with a razor blade (or other sharp object), then remove any sticky residue by scrubbing with a sponge and a drop of dish soap. If you find that the label has especially sticky residue, we recommend using goo gone to remove any of the extra adhesive left on the bottle.

Dry then add your new label!

If you would prefer only the front label be taken off, peeling off as much as you can after scrubbing with water, then using goo gone to get the sticky residue off also works!

Applying Labels

Make sure the bottle is dry and position your label over the bottle, pressing firmly in the middle of the label first, making sure the edges of your label are still away from the bottle. Slowly press each side outward towards all edges to prevent air bubbles from forming. press one side of your label down first and smoothing out the label before pressing down the on rest of the label.
